You needed to be published before you can become a member, but there is still a lot of good information for free. Also, check out their Writer Beware section. Absolute Write Water Cooler This is a massive forum where you'll find answers to questions you didn't even know you had. Under their Bewares, Recommendations, and Background Checks they have threads on just about every agent and publisher in the industry. Online Writing Workshop for Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror I've read a lot of quality WIP being polished here during my time as a member of the OWW. While there are a lot of free online critique groups and workshops, I like the OWW. Agent Query This is a good database for doing agent searches. (But you should always visit agent website for submissions guidelines.) Query Shark This is a blog where a Saint with sharp teeth shows new authors how to improve their query letters. Bless your heart, Query Shark. There are hundreds of other wonderful resources on the net; my suggestions are just a starting point. Hint: Agent and editor blogs are filled with wonderful ideas.
